Patrón Tequila (NOM 1492) is the world’s best-selling ultra-premium tequila, produced at Hacienda Patrón in Atotonilco el Alto, Los Altos de Jalisco, since 1989. Founded by Martin Crowley and John Paul DeJoria and now owned by Bacardi Limited, Patrón is defined by its dual-production method, running a tahona stone wheel and a roller mill simultaneously and blending the results alongside 79-hour clay-oven cooking and small-batch pine-wood fermentation. The range spans Silver, Reposado, Añejo, Extra Añejo, and the Gran Patrón tier, including Platinum, Piedra, and Burdeos.
Herradura Tequila (NOM 1119) is one of the most historically significant producers in the denomination, operating at Hacienda San José del Refugio in Amatitan, Jalisco, since 1870. The house invented Reposado tequila in 1974 and created the world’s first Extra Añejo, Selección Suprema, in 1994.
