Clase Azul is one of the most visually distinctive and commercially successful premium tequila brands in the world, a house that has built its identity equally around what is inside the bottle and what the bottle itself represents. Produced at NOM 1416 in the Los Altos highlands of Jalisco from 100% organic Blue Weber agave, slow-cooked in brick ovens for 72 hours, and presented in hand-painted ceramic decanters crafted by artisans from the Mazahua community, Clase Azul occupies a unique position in the tequila landscape: genuinely luxurious, unmistakably Mexican, and impossible to mistake for anything else.
The red clay soils of Los Altos are among the most celebrated in the denomination, producing Blue Weber agave that is typically sweeter, fruitier, and more floral than its lowland counterpart, with a richness that translates directly into the soft, rounded profile Clase Azul is known for.
The agave used across the entire range is certified organic, grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers and harvested at full maturity. The combination of highland terroir and organic cultivation is central to the house style, and it underpins every expression from the entry-level Plata through to the Ultra.
The brand was founded in 1997 by Arturo Lomeli, a then 23-year-old bar owner from Guadalajara who set out to change the way the world thought about tequila. Nearly three decades later, it has grown from a one-man grassroots operation into a company of over 2,000 employees, with a range that extends from an approachable Plata to the Ultra, an extra anejo produced in fewer than 100 bottles per year.
