Smoke Wagon Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Overview

Smoke Wagon Straight Bourbon comes out of Las Vegas, from the crew at Nevada H&C Distilling Co. They source high-rye bourbon from MGP in Indiana, then age and blend it in their own Vegas warehouse. The result is a straight bourbon with a decent bit of rye kick and plenty of flavour for the price.

The mash bill is 60% corn, 36% rye and 4% malted barley, so expect caramel and vanilla up front with a spicier edge behind it. It’s bottled at 46.25%, non-chill filtered, and took Double Gold at the 2020 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Good bourbon. Fair price. Easy pick for the weekend.

Distillery Information

Nevada H&C Distilling Co. was founded in Las Vegas in 2012 by Aaron Chepenik and Jonathan Hensleigh. Rather than chase their own distillate from day one, they built their name on picking and blending good sourced bourbon from MGP in Indiana, then ageing it in their own warehouse. Smoke Wagon has since become one of the most talked-about non-Kentucky bourbon brands going around.
