Maker's Mark 46 takes the classic wheated bourbon everyone knows and gives it more depth. After the usual time in charred American oak, ten seared French oak staves go into the barrel for a second finish, adding extra layers of flavour before it's bottled at 47% ABV. It was Bill Samuels Jr's own recipe, the first major new expression since the original Maker's Mark launched.

It's bolder and richer than the standard bottle without losing that smooth, wheated character Maker's is known for. A proper step up for anyone who's worked through the classic red wax bottle and wants to see what the French oak brings to the table.

Distillery Information

Maker's Mark has been made at Star Hill Farm in Loretto, Kentucky since 1953, and was one of the first premium bourbons on the market. Maker's 46 came later, created by Bill Samuels Jr, son of the founders, who wanted to build on his father's recipe with something bolder. It was the first major new Maker's expression since the original launched, and it's stuck around because the extra French oak finish genuinely earns its place.
