Overview

The GlenDronach 15 is a deeply sherried Highland malt, matured in a mix of Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks from Andalucía. It was discontinued in 2015 to protect ageing stock, then brought back to the core range in 2018. Named "Best In Show Whiskey" at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Rich, dark and full of dried fruit and chocolate. A proper step up from the usual shelf bottle.

Distillery Information

GlenDronach is a Highland Scotch whisky distillery located near Huntly in Aberdeenshire, founded in 1826, and it's best known for its rich, heavily sherried style. Unlike many distilleries that lean on ex-bourbon casks, GlenDronach matures much of its whisky in Spanish oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, giving its expressions deep notes of dried fruit, dark chocolate, toffee, and Christmas cake.

The distillery had periods of closure and changing ownership through the 20th century, but its reputation was significantly revived after 2008 under BenRiach Distillery Company (later acquired by Brown-Forman in 2016), which invested in cask quality and single-cask releases. It's now widely regarded as one of the benchmark sherry-cask Scotch producers, popular with collectors and a strong fit for whisky retail ranges given its distinct flavour profile and premium positioning.
