High West Double Rye is built from two straight rye whiskeys, a young MGP rye and High West's own in-house distillate aged up to 7 years. Both mash bills lean heavily on rye, which is where the name, and the exclamation point, come from. High West set out to make one of the spiciest ryes around, and this is their answer.

A solid step up from a standard rye if you want more spice and a bit more character in the glass. Easy to find and priced fairly for what's in the bottle.

Distillery Information

High West Distillery in Park City, Utah has always leaned into blending rather than sticking to one mash bill or source. Double Rye started out as a blend of young MGP rye and a much older sourced rye, before High West began working its own in-house distillate into the mix from 2018 onward.

The company keeps the exact ratio under wraps, but has said its own rye stays the smaller share of the blend.
