Patron Reposado Tequila
Overview
Patrón Reposado takes everything that makes the Silver so good: the clean Highland agave, the small-batch craftsmanship, the tahona character. Then it adds time in oak. Aged for over two months in a combination of American, French, and Hungarian oak barrels, it picks up vanilla, light caramel, and a warmth that smooths out the edges without burying the agave underneath.
The result is a reposado that sits in a genuinely good spot: more depth and complexity than a blanco, but not so heavily oaked that you lose what made the Silver worth drinking in the first place. It's a proper step up, and it shows in every pour.
The Distillery
Made at Hacienda Patrón in Atotonilco el Alto, Jalisco Highlands (NOM 1492), using the same small-batch process as the rest of the Patrón range. Every batch is hand-crafted, hand-labelled, and numbered, something you don't usually find in a brand that sells this many bottles globally.
The Highland location continues to drive the flavour here: agave grown at altitude brings natural fruitiness and more sugar, giving even the rested expressions a brightness that valley-grown agave can't always match.
Why We Recommend It
At Bourbon Brothers, we recommend Patrón Reposado for customers who want:
- A smooth, well-balanced reposado from a premium, trusted label
- Highland agave brightness with a soft oak overlay
- A versatile bottle that works neat, on ice, or in premium cocktails
- A step up from standard commercial reposados without jumping to a full añejo
If you're familiar with Patrón Silver and want to explore what a bit of time in wood does, this is the natural next move.
Production & Craftsmanship
| Agave | 100% Blue Weber Agave |
| Cooking | Traditional brick hornos (ovens), approximately 79 hours |
| Extraction | Combination of tahona (volcanic stone wheel) and roller mill |
| Fermentation | Open wooden fermentation vats with proprietary yeast |
| Distillation | Double distilled |
| Still Type | Small copper pot stills |
| Additives | Additive-free |
| Aging | Over 2 months in American, French, and Hungarian oak barrels |
The use of three different oak types is uncommon at this price point. American oak brings vanilla and caramel, French oak adds a lighter, spiced character, and Hungarian oak contributes structure. It's a blend of influences that adds up to something more interesting than most standard reposados.
Tasting Notes
Nose
Fresh agave, vanilla, light caramel, and a subtle dried fruit note from the Highland-grown agave.
Palate
Smooth agave, honey, vanilla, a touch of cinnamon spice, and gentle oak, balanced and easy to drink.
Finish
Medium-length, warm, and clean, vanilla and soft spice that fades without any harsh edges.
What Makes This Tequila Special
How to Enjoy
Brilliant in a Reposado Margarita or a Tequila Old Fashioned. The vanilla and light spice also make it an easy neat pour or a solid choice over ice. It's one of those bottles that fits most occasions without you having to think too hard about it.
