Pasote Anejo Tequila
Overview
Pasote Añejo is a 100% Blue Weber agave tequila made in El Arenal, Jalisco, then aged in American oak for at least a year. The extra time in oak adds real depth, richer vanilla, caramel, and a bit of warm spice, but the agave is still there doing the work underneath.
Like the rest of the Pasote range, rainwater is used throughout production. This is an añejo for a proper pour, slow sipping, or a tequila-forward old fashioned.
The Distillery
Pasote is produced at NOM 1443, Destiladora del Valle de Tequila, in El Arenal, Jalisco. The distillery sits in the lowland tequila region and focuses on smaller batch, craft-led production rather than the high-volume supermarket approach.
The brand is built around doing things properly. Raw ingredients, a simple process, and a long enough rest in oak to add depth without burying the agave character. You're getting a tequila with a bit more thought behind it than the usual shelf bottle.
Why We Recommend It
At Bourbon Brothers, we recommend Pasote Añejo for customers who want:
- A rich, smooth añejo with real agave character still in the mix
- Proper oak depth without it tipping into whiskey territory
- An upgrade on typical añejo bottles on the shelf
- A tequila made for neat pours or a slow sip over ice
If you like an añejo that's balanced, not all sweet and sugary, this one is worth having on hand.

Tasting Notes
Nose
Cooked agave, rich vanilla, caramel, and toasted oak, with a hint of dried fruit and baking spice.
Palate
Bold and rounded. Vanilla, caramel, and oak up front, with agave, cinnamon, and a bit of pepper through the middle. Smooth mouthfeel, plenty going on.
Finish
Long and warm. Oak, vanilla, and soft spice, with the agave still hanging around at the end.
What Makes This Tequila Special
How to Enjoy
Best neat or over a single large cube. Works a treat in a Tequila Old Fashioned or an añejo-forward cocktail where the oak and agave can both shine. Not one you want to bury in a margarita.
