Cenote Reposado is a 100% Blue Weber agave tequila made at the base of the Tequila Volcano in Jalisco, aged three months in American oak. Same volcanic well water and long grown agave that goes into the rest of the Cenote range, just given proper time in barrel this time round.

Three months is on the shorter end for a reposado, but it's enough to pick up genuine oak character. Golden straw in the glass, with vanilla and wood sitting alongside the agave rather than covering it up. Rounder and more settled than the Blanco, without losing what makes Cenote worth pouring in the first place.

Nose: Vanilla and wood in balance, with cooked agave and a touch of spice underneath.

Palate: Round and harmonious. Vanilla, wood and spice up front, with a green, vegetal note that keeps it from getting too sweet.

Finish: Smooth and warming, with vanilla and a light caramel sweetness lingering.

Distillery Information

Cenote is produced at Fábrica de Tequilas Finos (NOM 1472), right at the foot of the Tequila Volcano. Stoli Group built the brand as its own standalone project, with agave sourcing, water and the barrel programme all planned together rather than pieced together after the fact.

The water's still the backbone of it. Drawn from an artesian well on site, naturally filtered through volcanic soil, then run through reverse osmosis and a carbon and silver system. Master Distiller Arturo Fuentes, who's got 35 plus years in the trade including time distilling Cognac in France, personally oversees the barrel selection before anything gets blended.
