Pasote Tequila - Brand information
The Range
Three bottles in the core lineup, all 100% Blue Weber agave, all made the same way. The only difference is how long they spend resting in American oak.
Pasote Blanco
Unaged. Clean, bold agave with citrus and a bit of pepper. Sips neat and still holds up in a margarita or paloma.
Tasting Notes and Information Page
Pasote Reposado
Rested in American oak. Softer and rounded, with vanilla and caramel coming in, but the agave is still front and centre.
Pasote Añejo
Aged longer in American oak. Richer vanilla, caramel, and warm spice, with agave hanging around underneath. Made for slow sipping.
About the Distiller
Pasote is produced at Destiladora del Valle de Tequila (NOM 1443) in El Arenal, Jalisco. El Arenal sits in the highland tequila region, known for agave with a bolder, earthier character than the sweeter lowland and highland blends you find in the big supermarket brands.
The distillery is smaller and more hands-on than the high-volume plants most tequila comes out of. The whole setup is built around craft-led, small batch production. Raw ingredients, a simple process, and letting the agave do the talking. No additives, no shortcuts, nothing dressed up to hide what's actually in the bottle.
History
Pasote is a smaller, craft-focused brand out of El Arenal in Jalisco. It was built around a simple idea. Make tequila properly, with good agave, clean water, and no additives, then let the liquid speak for itself.
Production sits at NOM 1443, Destiladora del Valle de Tequila. The brand isn't about big marketing or flashy bottles. It's built for people who care about what's actually in the glass and want a tequila with a bit more thought behind it than the usual shelf bottle.
What Makes Pasote Different (USP)
The big one is rainwater. Pasote uses rainwater through production. That's not a gimmick, it's a choice that flows into the finished liquid and gives the brand its own character.
Add to that:
- 100% Blue Weber agave, no mixers, no sugar-based shortcuts
- No additives in any expression across the range
- Double distilled in copper pot stills
- Small batch, craft-led production, not a supermarket volume play
- Clear, consistent style from Blanco through to Añejo
If you know what you like from a proper tequila and want a step up from the usual shelf bottle, Pasote sits comfortably in that upgrade slot.
How They Make It
The process is built to keep things clean and let the agave come through.
- Agave: 100% Blue Weber, grown in El Arenal, Jalisco
- Water: Rainwater used throughout production
- Fermentation: Done at the NOM 1443 distillery in smaller batches
- Distillation: Double distilled in copper pot stills
- Additives: None, at any stage
- Aging: Blanco is unaged. Reposado is rested in American oak. Añejo is aged longer in American oak.
Clean process, honest ingredients, no shortcuts. That's the whole idea.
