Made from 100% organic rye, distilled in copper pots, and pulled from a single hand-selected barrel at 92 proof. No blending, no batching. What was in that one barrel is what ends up in the bottle.

It's a properly built rye with the kind of spice and depth you only get from a true 100% rye mash. Plenty of pepper, baking spice, and toasted oak, with enough sweetness underneath to keep it balanced. A solid pick for anyone moving past softer ryes and looking for something with more character.

    Tasting Notes

    Palate - Black pepper and baking spice lead, with caramel, oak, and a touch of citrus carrying through. Full and well structured for the proof.

    Who this bottle is for

    Catoctin Creek Distilling Company was founded in 2009 by Becky and Scott Harris in Purcellville, Virginia. It was the first legal distillery in Loudoun County since before Prohibition, and Becky took on the role of master distiller, making her one of the few women heading up an American whiskey distillery at the time.

    Roundstone Rye is the distillery's flagship. The Single Barrel Distiller's Edition takes that base and bottles it at the higher 92 proof from individually selected barrels, giving each release its own slight variation in character.

    How to enjoy

    Best neat to start. Give it a minute in the glass and the spice and oak start to open up. A few drops of water can soften the edges and bring out the sweeter notes. Works seriously well in a Manhattan or Old Fashioned if you want a cocktail with proper rye character.
