Palate: Rich and layered – fig, caramel, and a touch of dark chocolate, with the rye spice holding its ground throughout. The Sauternes adds honeyed sweetness, the Port and Madeira bring dried fruit and a bit of nuttiness. Well-balanced and easy to follow.

Best enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water to open it up. The 43% ABV keeps things smooth without losing the complexity. Works well in a Manhattan if you want to use it in a cocktail – the European cask character holds up – but it'd be a shame not to try it neat first.
