Macallan 18 Year Old Double Cask Whisky

$569.00
Overview

Macallan 18 Sherry Oak is the bottle a lot of people picture when they think of top shelf Scotch. Eighteen years in sherry-seasoned oak casks from Jerez, Spain, and nothing else. No shortcuts, no added colour. What you get is a rich, full-bodied single malt loaded with dried fruit, ginger, orange and dark chocolate, all held together by mature oak.

It’s released once a year in limited numbers, and full-term sherry cask whisky at this age is only getting harder to find as good sherry casks get scarcer. Bottled at 43%. If you’ve been working your way up the shelf, this is one of the big ones.

Distillery Information

The Macallan has been making whisky on the Easter Elchies estate in Speyside since 1824 and is now owned by Edrington. It built its name on sherry cask whisky, and the Sherry Oak range is where that shows most. Macallan’s Master of Wood team sources, toasts and seasons the casks in Spain before they’re shipped to Scotland and filled. The 18 Year Old is the flagship of the range and comes out as an annual release.

Why we curate it

We’re bourbon people, but some bottles earn a spot on any shelf. Macallan 18 Sherry Oak is rich, sweet and spicy, with eighteen years of sherry oak doing all the work. It’s a proper upgrade bottle, the kind you open for a big occasion or just because you’ve earned it. Hard to go wrong with this one.
