Overview
Single Malt Scotch Whisky ·

Jura The Sound is a sweet, easy-drinking single malt that spent its life in ex-bourbon barrels before a finish in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. That’s a good combo for bourbon drinkers. You get the vanilla and sweetness from the bourbon oak, then a layer of rich, dark fruit from the PX. Hazelnut, orange, caramel fudge and milk chocolate. Bottled at 42.5%.

Made for travel retail as part of Jura’s Sherry Cask Collection, it's now listed by Jura as a previous release, so you won’t see it on every shelf.

Distillery Information

Jura is made on the Isle of Jura, off Scotland’s west coast. The Sound was released in 2017 as part of Jura’s Sherry Cask Collection for travel retail. It’s named after the stretch of water at the north of the island, home to the Gulf of Corryvreckan, a well known whirlpool. Jura’s line on it is that the water can look harmless on a map, but locals know better.

Why we curate it

Jura The Sound is a bourbon barrel whisky with a sherry twist, and that makes it an easy one for us to back. Sweet, fruity and smooth, with plenty of fudge and chocolate. It was a travel retail bottle and Jura now lists it as a previous release, so it’s one worth grabbing while it’s around.
