West Cork Distillers is based in Skibbereen, County Cork, founded by Ger and Denis McCarthy alongside John O'Connell. Before getting into whiskey, the McCarthy brothers worked as trawlermen off the West Cork coast, and the Maritime Collection is built around that history. The bottle's spherical shape was O'Connell's idea, a nod to the vintage glass fishing floats once used on the family's boats.
