Overview

Blanton's Original is the whiskey that started the single barrel bourbon category. Introduced in 1984 by Master Distiller Elmer T. Lee, it was the first commercially sold single barrel bourbon and set the standard that every single barrel release since has been measured against.

Each bottle is drawn from a single, hand-selected barrel matured in Warehouse H, Buffalo Trace's only metal-clad rickhouse, where bigger temperature swings push more flavour into the wood. Bottled at 46.5% ABV (93 proof), it delivers sweet citrus, vanilla, caramel, and warm oak. The distinctive bottle and collectible horse-and-jockey stopper make it one of the most recognisable bourbons in the world.

Distillery Information

Blanton's comes out of Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, one of the oldest continuously operating distilleries in the country. Master Distiller Elmer T. Lee created Blanton's in 1984, drawing barrels from the center cuts of Warehouse H, the distillery's only metal clad rickhouse, where bigger swings in temperature push more flavour into the wood. It was originally poured for ambassadors and close associates before it ever hit the shelves, and it's the bottle that's credited with kicking off the whole single barrel bourbon category.
