Distillery Information

Aberlour Distillery was founded in 1879 by James Fleming, built on the site of St Drostan's Well in the heart of Speyside, Scotland. A fire in 1898 destroyed much of the original distillery and its stock, and it was rebuilt under architect Charles Doig, one of Scotland's most respected distillery designers of the era.

Double cask maturation has become Aberlour's signature move, using traditional oak and sherry butts to build layers of flavour that a single cask type can't deliver on its own. The 12 Year Old is the clearest example of that approach, and the most accessible bottle in the range.
