Product Description
Cascahuín Añejo Tequila is a disciplined, agave-first aged tequila that demonstrates how oak should enhance a traditionally made spirit. Produced at the family-owned Cascahuín distillery in El Arenal, this añejo is matured patiently to develop depth and cohesion while remaining unmistakably tequila at heart.
Where many añejos lean into sweetness and heavy barrel influence, Cascahuín takes a restrained approach. The result is a spirit that feels structured, savoury, and composed, familiar enough for bourbon drinkers, yet clearly rooted in agave.
This is añejo for purists, not dessert drinkers.
Production Process
Cascahuín Añejo follows traditional tequila production, with careful fermentation and extended oak aging used to build complexity without masking agave character.
- 100% Blue Weber agave sourced from Jalisco
- Agave slow-cooked in traditional brick ovens (hornos) to develop deep cooked-agave flavours
- Cooked agave crushed using roller mills for clean, precise juice extraction
-
Natural fermentation in open-air stainless steel tanks, using distillery-selected yeast, allowing sugars to ferment gradually and develop earthy, peppery, and herbal complexity
-
Double distilled in stainless steel pot stills with copper components, refining the spirit while retaining structure and texture
-
Aged in oak barrels for over one year (Añejo classification), developing warmth, spice, and integration without overpowering the agave
- Bottled additive-free, with no sweeteners, colouring, glycerine, or flavouring agents
Aging here is used as a tool for balance and maturity not flavour manipulation.
Why We Love It
This is the kind of añejo we gravitate toward as bourbon drinkers. It reminds us of a well-managed barrel program — oak is present, but never in charge. Cascahuín Añejo rewards slow sipping and attention, offering depth without excess.
If you enjoy mature spirits that remain honest to their base material, this one makes immediate sense.
Best Enjoyed
