Overview

Arette Reposado is a 100% Blue Weber agave tequila rested in American oak barrels, including ex bourbon staves, for 6 to 8 months. Some batches go longer, up to 11 months, which gives it a bit more depth without losing the agave character underneath.

Cooked agave and vanilla up front, with baking spice, a touch of oak and a peppery finish. Smooth and easy to drink, but still got enough going on to keep it interesting.

Nose: Cooked agave, vanilla and cinnamon, with caramel, light herbal and floral notes and a touch of oak spice.

Palate: Sweet agave, butterscotch and baking spice, citrus peel and a peppery warmth, smooth and medium bodied.

Finish: Medium length, with lingering vanilla, pepper and oak spice, and a gentle agave sweetness.

Distillery Information

Arette is produced at El Llano Distillery (NOM 1109) in the town of Tequila, Jalisco. Founded in 1900 by the Orendain family, it's the oldest family owned tequila distillery still in operation, now run by the fifth generation. The Arette brand itself was launched in 1986 by brothers Eduardo and Jaime Orendain, named after the horse Arete, a two-time Olympic gold medallist for Mexico in 1948.

Same estate grown agave and traditional methods as the Blanco, just given some time in wood to round things out.

How to enjoy

Good neat or over ice if you want to taste what the barrel adds. Also holds up well in a Paloma, or as the base for an Old Fashioned riff if you're after something a bit different. Easy to reach for either way.
