New Riff Single Barrel Bourbon 700ml
65% Corn / 30% Rye / 5% Malted Barley · Newport, Kentucky · Barrel Proof (51–57% ABV)
Overview
New Riff Single Barrel is the kind of bourbon that reminds you why single barrel releases exist. Bottled straight from one cask, barrel proof, non-chill filtered, no water added — what you're getting is the real thing. A high-rye mash bill, four years in virgin American white oak, and zero shortcuts. Bold, spicy, and loaded with character.
Each bottle comes from a single barrel, which means the profile shifts slightly from release to release. That's not a flaw, that's the point. If you want something with genuine character and a bit of kick, this one's worth a spot on your shelf.
The Distillery
New Riff Distilling is based in Newport, Kentucky, just across the Ohio River from Cincinnati. They opened in 2014 with a clear idea: make bourbon properly, without shortcuts. That means non-chill filtration across the board, no additives, toasted and charred virgin oak barrels, and a commitment to the Bottled-in-Bond standard as a benchmark for quality.
Everything is done in-house from grain sourcing and mashing through to distillation and maturation. The Single Barrel release is the clearest expression of that approach: one cask, one bourbon, nothing added.
Why We Recommend It
At Bourbon Brothers, we recommend New Riff Single Barrel for customers who want:
- A genuine step up from standard shelf bourbons
- Barrel proof character without paying collector prices
- A high-rye profile with real spice and depth
- Something unique — each barrel is its own release
- A bourbon from a distillery that does things properly, grain to glass
Production & Craftsmanship
| Grain Bill | 65% Corn, 30% Rye, 5% Malted Barley |
| Fermentation | Open-top fermenters with extended fermentation for flavour development |
| Distillation | Double distilled — column still followed by copper pot still |
| Aging | Minimum 4 years in 53-gallon toasted and charred new American white oak |
| Filtration | Non-chill filtered |
| Additives | None — bottled straight from the barrel at natural proof |
The combination of a high-rye mash bill, open fermentation, and non-chill filtration is what gives New Riff Single Barrel its bold, layered character. Nothing stripped out, nothing added in.
What Makes This Bourbon Special
Barrel Proof · Non-Chill Filtered · High Rye Mash Bill · Single Barrel Release · No Additives · Grain to Glass
How to Enjoy
Best neat , this is built to be appreciated straight from the glass. A few drops of water can open it up further, softening the proof and letting the spice and fruit breathe. Works brilliantly in a Manhattan or Old Fashioned if you want a cocktail with real backbone. Give it a minute in the glass before your first sip — it opens up as it breathes.
