Patron El Cielo Blanco Tequila 700ml
Overview
Patrón El Cielo is something a bit different from what you'd normally find on the shelf. It's the world's first four-times distilled silver tequila, crafted at Hacienda Patrón using their smallest copper pot still, led by Master Distiller David Rodriguez.
Made from 100% Blue Weber agave grown in the Jalisco Highlands, it's unaged but far from simple. The extra distillation passes strip out the rough edges and leave behind a seriously clean, silky blanco with genuine depth. Big citrus, creamy vanilla, and a smooth finish that lingers longer than most. If you're after a premium silver that earns its price tag, this one delivers.
The Distillery
Hacienda Patrón is based in Atotonilco el Alto in the Jalisco Highlands, NOM 1492, an area known for agave with higher sugar content and a brighter, fruitier character than valley-grown plants. It's been the home of Patrón since 1989 and is one of the most hands-on operations in the category.
El Cielo was developed specifically to push the blanco category further. Master Distiller David Rodriguez spent years working with the distillery's smallest copper pot still to nail the four-distillation process, each pass refining the spirit without losing the agave character that makes it worth drinking.
Why We Recommend It
At Bourbon Brothers, we recommend Patrón El Cielo for customers who want:
- A premium blanco that genuinely stands apart from standard silvers
- The smoothest, cleanest finish you'll find in an unaged tequila
- Highland agave character, brighter and more complex than valley blancos
- Something worth sipping neat, not just mixing
If you've already worked your way through the standard Patrón Silver and want to see how far they can push a blanco, El Cielo is the answer.
Production & Craftsmanship
| Agave | 100% Blue Weber Agave (hand-selected, high-sugar piñas) |
| Cooking | Traditional brick hornos (stone ovens) |
| Extraction | Combination of tahona (volcanic stone wheel) and roller mill |
| Fermentation | Open wooden fermentation tanks, with and without agave fibers |
| Distillation | Quadruple distilled, four passes through copper pot still |
| Still Type | Smallest copper pot still at Hacienda Patrón |
| Additives | Produced to premium standards |
| Aging | Unaged (Silver/Blanco) |
Four distillations is a big deal in tequila. Most blancos stop at two. The extra passes through a small copper pot still remove impurities and rough edges while keeping the agave flavour intact, the result is a texture and refinement you can actually taste.
Tasting Notes
Nose
Sweet cooked agave, orange rind, cinnamon, and a hint of vanilla. Clean and inviting without being aggressive.
Palate
Cooked agave and citrus up front, then vanilla and lime build out. Creamy, smooth mouthfeel with fresh agave and a touch of orange peel coming through mid-palate.
Finish
Long and refined. Black pepper, vanilla, mineral, and a lingering cooked agave with a hint of burnt orange. Cleaner and longer than most blancos.
What Makes This Tequila Special
How to Enjoy
El Cielo is smooth enough to sip neat or over ice, and that's honestly where it shines. If you're mixing, use it in a Margarita or Paloma where its clean citrus and vanilla character can do the work. It's the kind of blanco that earns its spot on the shelf and stays there.
