This whiskey revives one of Michter’s most historic styles — the original Michter's Sour Mash recipe that helped build its reputation in the 20th century. It’s called “Sour Mash” because a portion of a prior fermentation mash is used to start the new one, a technique that enhances consistency and depth.
Crafted in small batches and bottled at 43% ABV, Michter's Sour Mash is neither a bourbon nor a rye by legal definition, but offers the best of both worlds. On the nose, expect warm notes of cinnamon, toasted nuts, and vanilla. The palate unfolds with caramel, maple syrup, gentle spice, and a hint of smoke, leading to a soft, balanced finish.
