Corazón Blanco Tequila
Overview
Corazón Blanco is a 100% Blue Weber agave tequila from the Highlands of Jalisco, an area that sits at significantly higher elevation than the Tequila Valley and produces agave with a noticeably sweeter, fruitier character. Unaged and bottled straight after distillation, this is tequila in its purest form: what you taste is entirely the agave and how it was made.
It's clean, bright, and more approachable than a lot of blancos at this price point. Good on its own, great in cocktails. If you want to understand what quality agave actually tastes like, this is a solid place to start.
The Distillery
Corazón is produced at Destiladora San Nicolás (NOM 1479) in Atotonilco el Alto, deep in the Los Altos Highlands of Jalisco. The brand is part of the Bacardi portfolio and is perhaps best known outside Mexico for its Expresiones del Corazón collaboration, a series aged in barrels sourced from Buffalo Trace Distillery in Kentucky.
That American whiskey connection isn't just a gimmick. It says something about the approach: a brand serious enough about aging and craft to partner with one of the most respected distilleries in the US. The blanco is where it all starts, the foundation the rest of the range is built on.
Why We Recommend It
At Bourbon Brothers, we recommend Corazón Blanco for customers who want:
- We were very surprised, the quality level is much higher than the price may suggest. A winner!
- For new tequila drinkers, this is ideal. It's incredibly refined, and while it's a genuinely agave-forward blanco with real Highland character, it is slightly lighter than many other Blancos at this price range.
- Something clean and approachable that doesn't need ice or a mixer to enjoy
- A reliable cocktail base that still brings flavour to the glass
- An honest blanco at a fair price, no fuss, no fluff
Whether you're just getting into tequila or you know your way around a blanco, Corazón holds up. It's not trying to be something it's not.
Production & Craftsmanship
| Agave | 100% Blue Weber Agave |
| Region | Los Altos (Highlands), Jalisco, grown at high elevation for a sweeter, fruitier agave profile |
| Cooking | Traditional brick ovens (hornos) |
| Extraction | Roller mill |
| Fermentation | Open stainless steel tanks |
| Distillation | Double distilled in copper pot stills |
| Additives | None declared |
| Aging | Unaged (Blanco) |
Cooking in brick hornos rather than industrial autoclaves takes longer, but it draws out more complexity from the agave. That extra effort shows in the glass, there's a depth to this blanco that you don't always get at this level.
Tasting Notes
Nose
Fresh agave, citrus zest, light floral notes, and a hint of white pepper. Clean and inviting.
Palate
Bright cooked agave, sweet citrus, mild spice, and a touch of grassiness. The Highland sweetness comes through clearly, rounder than most lowland blancos.
Finish
Clean and medium-length. Light pepper warmth that fades quickly. Nothing harsh or raw.
What Makes This Tequila Special
How to Enjoy
Makes an excellent Margarita or Tommy's Margarita, the Highland sweetness pairs particularly well with fresh lime. Also works well in a Paloma or Ranch Water. Equally happy served neat or with a bit of ice if you want to slow down and actually taste what's in the glass.
