Corazon is made at Casa San Matias, one of the oldest working tequila distilleries in Mexico. The place dates back to 1886 and sits in the Highlands of Jalisco. Long history, plenty of know-how, and a reputation for not mucking around with the basics.

Casa San Matias grows agave in the red, iron-rich soil of Los Altos. Highland agave at altitude tends to be sweeter and softer than valley plants, and you can taste it in the glass. The distillery handles everything in-house, from the agave through to the bottle, which is what lets them turn out a consistent product across the range.

Casa San Matias has been making tequila since 1886, which puts it among the oldest distilleries in Jalisco. The Corazon label was launched to bring that long-running production to a wider audience, with a focus on Highland agave and a clean, no-shortcut approach.

The brand has built a name through its Expresiones series, in which Corazon Añejo is finished in used American whiskey barrels from Buffalo Trace and Sazerac. That collaboration helped put Corazon on the map for whiskey drinkers who were getting into tequila, and it backed up the core range as a serious sipping tequila in its own right.
