History
Bulleit Bourbon traces its origins to the late 19th century, inspired by Augustus Bulleit’s frontier-era whiskey recipe known for its unusually high rye content. Revived in the modern era, Bulleit has grown into one of the world’s most recognisable high-rye bourbon brands, admired for its bold character, minimalist bottle design, and consistent flavour profile.
Today, Bulleit is a global bourbon icon, balancing heritage storytelling with modern production and wide availability, making it a staple for both bourbon enthusiasts and cocktail professionals.
Distilling Process
Bulleit Bourbon is built around a high-rye mash bill, delivering its signature spice, dryness, and structure. Historically, Bulleit’s bourbon was distilled at MGP (Midwest Grain Products) in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, before being aged and bottled under the Bulleit name.

In more recent years, production has expanded to include Bulleit’s own distillery in Shelbyville, Kentucky, allowing the brand to increasingly integrate Kentucky-distilled bourbon into its portfolio while maintaining flavour consistency.
All Bulleit Bourbon is aged in new charred American oak barrels and crafted to retain a bold yet approachable profile suited to sipping or mixing.
What Makes Bulleit Unique and Revered
Bulleit stands apart for its high-rye backbone, which gives the bourbon a drier, spicier profile compared to traditional sweeter Kentucky styles. This makes it especially popular in classic cocktails like the Old Fashioned and Manhattan.

Master Distiller & Production Team
Eboni Major is one of the most respected figures in modern American whiskey and one of the few African American women to hold the title of Master Distiller at a major global bourbon brand.
She was appointed Bulleit Master Distiller in 2023,
