Aged longer than the standard white label bourbon, it develops deeper character and smoother complexity, making it a standout for those seeking accessible premium quality. While it no longer carries an age statement. Jim Beam Black it’s widely understood to be aged around 6 to 8 years—significantly more than the industry minimum for straight bourbon.

Bottled at 43% ABV (86 proof), Jim Beam Black opens with inviting aromas of oak, caramel, and vanilla, accented by a touch of toasted nuts. The palate is smooth and full-bodied, offering flavours of molasses, brown sugar, and charred oak, with a hint of spice from its rye content. The finish is long and mellow, with lingering notes of sweet oak and dark fruit.

Tasting Notes

Nose:
Quite complex and well-balanced. There are notes of crème anglaise and butterscotch, mixed dried peels and nuts, a hint of aniseed and lovely cereal sweetness

Palate:
Full and thick with fruit. There are notes of vanilla fudge and honey, cereal sweetness, plenty of rye with a hint of cooked fruit.

Finish:
The finish is of good length with a touch of toasty oak spice.
