To differentiate the Aberlour 18 Single Malt, the producers introduced a new double cask maturation in two sherry barrels (PX and Oloroso Sherry) with this 18-year-old whisky to achieve a long and complex taste with lingering sweetness. Aberlour 18 Single Malt whisky has been finished in specially selected first fill Oloroso Sherry casks, known for their juicy sultana and liquorice flavours. These fusions were then combined with PX sherry fusions, which give it an intense, syrupy sweetness. The Aberlour 18 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky result is a long, complex whisky with lingering sweetness that is rich and fruity on the palate, with notes of apricot, chocolate-covered sultanas, liquorice root and grated nutmeg.
