Bearface
Bearface is a Canadian whisky that has bravely endured a process coined as elemental ageing out in the Canadian wilderness! Having initially matured in bourbon barrels, the single grain whisky was then transferred to a selection of French red wine and virgin Hungarian oak casks, which were locked up in a repurposed shipping container out in bear country. The extreme climate of the region means temperatures can fluctuate greatly between night and day, providing interesting conditions for the whisky and the wood to interact.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Buttered corn and vanilla open the way for sweet, tannic oak and a touch of drying spice.
Palate: Butterscotch, and vinous, jammy fruit notes mingle, with aromatic oak and toasted peppercorns in the distance.Finish: The spices develop towards the end, with fragrant dried chilli bringing some warmth
