High West Rendezvous Rye
Best Rye in the world 2020
Best Rye in the World: London International Wines and Spirits Competition
High West Rendezvous Rye is their flagship and most awarded whiskey. Rated 95 Points by The Whisky Advocate
This superb dram is comprised of two straight rye whiskies: an exotic 6-year-old with a 95% rye and 5% barley malt mash bill, and a very rare 16-year-old with an 80% rye, 10% corn, 10% barley mash bill.
The large amount of rye in the mashbills combined with the 16 year old ingredient are likely what give this its wonderful balance of spicy and sweet. Although the basic flavour elements could be described as traditional, it’s the balance that makes the Rendezvous stand out. Because this is a blend of two whiskeys that were sourced by High West, this will likely sell out eventually, at which point there won’t be anything quite like it out there.
The High West Rendezvous Rye is now available as a seasonal that has evolved to include more of their own coveted High West pot still rye! Collect each year’s release to taste through the aromatic and flavour nuances that we will leverage year to year to bring you unparalleled quality product!
Tasting Notes
NOSE: A big nose of cinnamon stick, clove, vanilla, peppermint, caramelized sugar, and dried fruit
TASTE: Very spicy, with cinnamon, crisp mint, and fennel, underlying sweet notes of caramel, molasses, vanilla, macaroon, cocoa, and candied fruit
FINISH: Takes hold with huge rye spice, cinnamon, orange rind, and vanilla, and it lingers for ages
