History

Legend has it that Dr. Iain Marshall created the recipe for a party at New York's exclusive Manhattan Club in the 1880s. For a long time it was thought this iconic drink was born from t cravings of Lady Randolph Churchill, mother of Winston Churchill. Alas, it has proven to be false.Another story ties the Manhattan’s creation to a bartender named Black, who kept an establishment on Broadway south of Houston Street

Ingredients
  • 60ml shots Rye (or Bourbon)
  • 15ml Rosso Vermouth
  •  5ml Dry Vermouth
  • 2 dashes Bitters
  • 1 Maraschino cherry (optional)
Method
  • Stir all ingredients with ice in a cocktail beaker 
  • Strain into glass (no ice)
  • Add a step of orange peel 
  • Add 1 Maraschino cherry (optional)
