Independent Scotch whisky distillery The GlenAllachie reveals its new single malt Scotch whisky brand: Meikle Tòir (pronounced mee-kuhl tor). They have created a whisky that carves a path for those who think they don't like peat, or Find other options to smokey. This is a Speyside peat, it doesn't have the power of a traditional Islay peaty dram but is the wedge into a smoky world for Highland and Speyside lovers and it fulfils all the need of for real whisky drinkers (ie those already Peat enthusiasts.
The Meikle Toir Original is Carefully crafted and cask-perfected at The GlenAllachie Distillery in Speyside, their peated single malt serves up a sweet smoke style impeccably balanced with the heather honey character of their distillate. It is stored in Bourbon, American virgin oak, and rye barrels.
Meikle Tòir, The Original is 5years old BUT 5 years is often the year where the peat notes in whisky are regarded as the most prominent, with the phenols gradually becoming less prominent through interaction with the cask nd development of other flavours from the wood.
