SMALL BATCH. Whiskey from Red Hook, Brooklyn, NY
Widow Jane was acquired by Heaven Hill when the Kentucky distillery bought its parent company Samson & Surrey in 2022. It operates n the lively city of Red Hook, at the intersection of historic and modern New York City, amidst its cobblestone streets.
According to the brand the whiskey in this blend comes from Indiana and Tennessee, not the Bluegrass State. Widow Jane meticulously selects top barrels of Straight Bourbon & Rye Whiskeys nationwide.
Produced locally in Brooklyn's Red Hook neighbourhood, they offer unfiltered, and proofed with pure limestone water from Rosendale Mines in Upstate New York. Moreover, we distill weekly in Red Hook using premium non-GMO ingredients, such as our specially cultivated corn varietals like Baby Jane, developed over years.
When the daring Widow Jane crew embarked on crafting their own whiskey, they aimed for a blend that was as bold and full of character. But with a twist: a sip that screams New York with every drop. Every drop of Widow Jane's whiskey gets a splash of pure limestone water from the famous Rosendale Mines of NY, just a stone's throw away from their Red Hook, Brooklyn HQ. These mines aren't just any mines - they provided the limestone that built the backbone of some of the Big Apple's and America's most iconic structures: from the mighty caissons of the Brooklyn Bridge to the towering Empire State Building and even the sturdy pedestal of the Statue of Liberty.
Why the water is so important
Over the years, rain trickled down, seeping into hidden aquifers, mingling to fill the mines with crisp water, infused with the essence of limestone. The outcome? A magical wellspring of distinct, sweet water, rich in minerals, the ideal elixir for crafting top-notch whiskey.
